A drug dealer from Brooklyn pleaded guilty to supplying fentanyl-laced heroin to “The Wire” actor Michael K. Williams, causing his death.

Irvin Cartagena, 39, also known as ‘Green Eyes’, pleaded guilty in front of a district magistrate on Wednesday to conspiracy to sell heroin, fentanyl, and a fentanyl analogue, according to the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Damian Williams. he faces a mandatory minimum of five years and a maximum of forty years in prison.

“Irvin Cartagena sold fentanyl-laced heroin in broad daylight in New York City, feeding addiction and causing tragedy,“ said Williams of Cartagena’s hand-to-hand transaction with the actor, which he explained happened “on or about” Sept. 5, 2021.

Williams was found dead of an accidental fentanyl overdose in his Brooklyn apartment a day later on Sept. 6

The case demonstrates the perils of drug addiction and the need for more effective drug policies and treatment programmes. The guilty plea serves as a reminder that drug dealers who profit from addiction and mortality will face consequences for their actions.

“This Office and our law enforcement partners will continue to hold accountable the dealers who push this poison, exploit addiction, and cause senseless death in our community,”  the district attorney stated on September 6, a day after the death of the actor.

He died alone, unmarried and childless — but “The Wire” actor will always be known as “dad” to Karim Anderson and his siblings.

“This man was our father. This is the only person we knew as dad,” Anderson, a private chef, revealed to The Post for the first time about Williams’ relationship with him, his brother, and sister, whom Williams helped nurture.

The beloved star also left no will when he died in September. His estate is worth a modest $450,000, according to court records.
