From three-time Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Dean DeBlois, the visionary director behind DreamWorks Animation’s “How to Train Your Dragon” trilogy, comes a breathtaking live-action adaptation of the iconic film that launched the beloved franchise.

Set on the rugged isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations, “How to Train Your Dragon” introduces Hiccup (played by Mason Thames), a young inventor and the overlooked son of Chief Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler, reprising his voice role from the animated films).

Hiccup defies centuries of Viking tradition when he forms an unlikely friendship with Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. Together, they uncover the true nature of dragons, challenging long-held beliefs and the foundations of Viking society.

With the fiercely determined Astrid (Nico Parker) and the eccentric blacksmith Gobber (Nick Frost) by his side, Hiccup navigates a world divided by fear, misunderstanding, and long-standing conflict.

When an ancient threat emerges, endangering both Vikings and dragons alike, Hiccup and Toothless’ bond becomes the key to forging a new future for both species. In their quest for peace, they must defy expectations, pushing beyond the boundaries of their worlds and redefining what it means to be a hero and a leader.

The film also stars Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Ruth Codd, Peter Serafinowicz, and Murray McArthur.

Written, produced, and directed by Dean DeBlois, “How to Train Your Dragon” is produced by three-time Oscar nominee Marc Platt (Wicked, La La Land) and Emmy winner Adam Siegel (Drive, 2 Guns). The film is part of the Filmed For IMAX® program, ensuring an immersive viewing experience with the latest IMAX® technology.
