Dr Bawumia Breaks Silence On Death Of Samira’s Bodyguard

In the aftermath of the ghastly car crash involving the convoy of Second Lady Samira Bawumia, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has broken his silence, expressing deep sorrow over the tragic death of a valued team member.

The incident occurred on Saturday, January 13, 2023, when a Sprinter bus collided with the convoy on the Accra Kumasi Road. Fortunately, Second Lady Samira Bawumia survived the collision, as the Sprinter bus narrowly missed her car but collided with two other vehicles in the convoy.

Regrettably, a member of the Second Lady’s security team, identified as Fuseini, lost his life in the tragic accident. Fuseini had been a dedicated member of the Bawumia family’s security detail since 2008.

Videos from the crash scene depict the severity of the collision, with a Sprinter bus, a Toyota Land Cruiser, and a Mercedes-Benz saloon car visibly mangled from the impact.

In a statement, Vice President Dr Bawumia conveyed the heartbreaking news and paid tribute to the deceased. The Vice President’s statement reads:

Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Rajioon. It is with deep sorrow that I announce the death of Mumuni Fuseini, a staff in my office. He died yesterday from an accident involving a vehicle in the Convoy of the Second Lady, Hajia Samira. Fuseini was a hardworking member of the Closed Protection Unit. He has since been buried according to Islamic traditions. My condolences to his family and friends. May Allah forgive Fuseini’s shortcomings and grant him Jannah.
