Kwabena Kwabena has weighed in on the heartbreaking incident in East Legon involving the 16-year-old son of Bishop Salifu Amoako.

This tragic accident, which occurred on October 12, 2024, claimed the lives of two young girls, igniting a wave of anger and grief across social media and within the community.

During an interview on Adom TV, Kwabena Kwabena expressed deep sympathy for the families affected by the tragedy. “This is a sorrowful situation for everyone involved,” he said. “We must recognize the pain of the bereaved families while also acknowledging the difficult position of Bishop Amoako and his family.”

The musician emphasized the importance of empathy in times like these, reminding viewers, “When you see a man fall, don’t laugh; instead, learn.” He urged the public to focus on lessons that can be drawn from this incident rather than assigning blame.

Kwabena Kwabena also highlighted the urgent need for stricter enforcement of road safety laws, especially concerning minors operating vehicles. “Our laws seem to be selectively enforced,” he critiqued, adding, “It shows our laws are not really working; they only seem to apply to the weak and the less privileged.”

He firmly advocated for equal treatment under the law, stressing that justice must prevail for all individuals, regardless of their status.

In the wake of the accident, Bishop Salifu Amoako and his wife, Mouha Amoako, were taken into custody on October 15, 2024.

They were later released on bail set at ¢50,000 each. A video surfaced online showing Salifu Amoako apologizing to the families affected, but reactions were mixed, reflecting the public’s divided sentiments on the issue.

On October 18, a poignant vigil was held at the accident site, drawing tears and tributes for the two young victims.

The tragic event has sparked a renewed conversation around road safety in Ghana, with many calling for more stringent regulations to prevent underage driving and reckless behaviour on the roads.
