Gospel musician Diana Asamoah has openly warned Empress Gifty Adorye about holding her late mother’s funeral at the same astroturf where Dr. Kofi Amoa-Abban held his mother’s funeral.
The astroturf, constructed by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has become a focal point for public figures, with some questioning its availability to those outside the party’s fold.
In a radio conversation, Asamoah shared her recent visit to Gifty Adorye, where the topic of the funeral venue came up.
“Recently, on Sunday, I visited Gifty Adorye and asked her where she planned to hold her mother’s funeral,” Asamoah recounted.
“She told me she wanted to organize it at the same astroturf where Dr. Kofi Amoa-Abban held his mother’s funeral. I immediately told her not to even consider it.”
The astroturf, a facility known for hosting high-profile events, was built through the contributions of Dr. Kofi Amoa-Abban, a staunch supporter of the NPP. Asamoah, a devout member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), made it clear that she did not approve of the idea.

“I told her to go to her ‘Afrafranto’ party and ask them for an astroturf for the funeral,” she said, referring to the NDC’s nickname, “Afrafranto,” often used to symbolize the party’s grassroots strength.
The gospel singer also made a pointed remark about Gifty’s political choices. “I reminded her that she didn’t vote for the NPP, so she should go and look for her own land to organize the funeral,” Asamoah added.
Her words were firm, emphasizing the partisan lines that seemed to define the decision.
In a more serious tone, Asamoah issued a final warning to both Gifty and her husband: “I gave both her and her husband a final warning on this matter. They should go to those they voted for to get an astroturf.”
