Tru News Report made a significant presence at Dome Kwabenya to provide exclusive coverage of the ongoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries.

Our dedicated reporter, Beatrice Mensah, had the opportunity to interview a former delegate named Godwin Yeboah, who shared some intriguing insights exclusively for our esteemed readers.

According to Mr. Yeboah, the prevailing sentiment among the constituents is that the incumbent MP, Sarrah Adwoa Safo, will not be reelected. He criticized Adwoa Safo for her alleged incompetence and neglect of the people in her constituency. As a result, Mr. Mike Oquaye Jr. will likely emerge as the victorious candidate.

Furthermore, Mr. Yeboah confirmed reports of delegates receiving gifts in an attempt to influence their votes. This revelation sheds light on the tactics employed by some candidates to secure support.

The parliamentary primaries are taking place at the Atomic Basket ballpark in the Dome Kwabenya Constituency, under strict security measures. Approximately 1,840 delegates are expected to cast their votes. The Ghana Police Service has deployed 150 personnel to ensure a smooth and secure voting process.

As the day progressed, more voters joined the queue, with officials coordinating the proceedings. The polls opened at 7:15 am and are scheduled to close at 2 pm. However, officials have assured that voters in the queue before the closing time will still be allowed to cast their votes.

The delegates consist of a diverse group, including a council of elders, patrons, constituency executives, electoral area coordinators, and the three parliamentary candidates of the party. They primarily represent localities such as Abokobi, Ablorh Adjei, Haatso, Atomic, Kwabenya, Dome East, Taifa North, and Taifa South within the Dome Kwabenya constituency.

Apart from Sarrah Adwoa Safo and Mike Oquaye Jnr, Ms. Sheela Sakyi Oppong Adomaa is also a contestant in the parliamentary primaries. These primaries are being conducted nationwide in constituencies with incumbent Members of Parliament as part of the New Patriotic Party’s electoral process.
