Diddy files to dismiss Lil Rod’s lawsuit

Various online outlets, including XXL, have reported that Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, has sought to have Rodney Jones’ lawsuit dismissed, asserting that Jones is simply attempting to coerce Puff into a settlement.

XXL indicates that they have acquired a motion submitted by Diddy’s legal representatives in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on Monday.

The motion contends that Jones’ troubling lawsuit—amended in March to allege that Puff is involved in sex trafficking and part of a “RICO enterprise”—is merely a “typical commercial dispute” that Jones is trying to manipulate into a “sensational RICO conspiracy.”

“Running to nearly 100 pages, it includes countless tall tales, shameless celebrity namedrops, and irrelevant images,” the motion reads. “Yet despite all its hyperbole and lurid theatrics, [Jones] fails to state a single viable claim against any of Combs Defendants.”

Concerning the allegations of sex trafficking, Diddy’s representatives refuted Jones’ claim that he was a victim of “any commercial sex act.”

“The complaint also fails to state a [Trafficking Victims Protection Act] claim directly or indirectly against Combs Global because there are no allegations that Combs Global participated in or benefitted from any alleged commercial sex act involving Jones,” the motion reads.

In the initial lawsuit submitted in February, Rodney Jones alleged that Diddy engaged in sexual harassment drugged him, and issued threats during their collaboration on The Love Album: Off the Grid. Diddy’s recent motion characterized Jones’ claims as ambiguous, asserting that Jones was unable to provide specific examples of any incidents of sexual harassment.

“Mr. Jones’s lawsuit is pure fiction,” Diddy’s lawyer Erica Wolff said in a statement shared with XXL. “There was no RICO conspiracy and Mr. Jones was not threatened, groomed, assaulted or trafficked. We look forward to proving — in a court of law — that all of Mr. Jones’s claims are made up and must be dismissed.”
