Ghanaian gospel musician Diana Hamilton has shared the fascinating story behind her collaboration with Nigerian gospel star Mercy Chinwo on Doing of the Lord.
Speaking on Starr Chat with Bola Ray, she revealed that she initially wanted to feature Mercy on the track but abandoned the idea when she realized Mercy was pregnant. Diana proceeded to record and complete the song without her.
However, she had a sudden change of heart while driving on the motorway. “We were exiting near the animal husbandry area when it hit me—King David, let’s put Mercy on this!” she recalled.
Without hesitation, she called Mercy, who was in Canada at the time. Though the song was time-sensitive, Mercy assured her she would deliver as soon as she got to Nigeria.

Diana immediately sent the song via WhatsApp, and Mercy responded with excitement.
Diana noted that this was one of the few times she had done a collaboration without being physically present with the other artist.
Despite her old-school preference for working in the same space, she was glad they later met to shoot the music video.
Reflecting on the entire experience, she described it as a “beautiful” process and expressed gratitude for how everything came together.
