Stonebwoy’s performance at the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards was undoubtedly one of the standout moments of the evening at the prestigious award ceremony held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre on June 1.
His captivating cultural-themed performance, which kicked off his stagecraft, was deeply rooted in the rich historical traditions of the Ewe people.
This remarkable showcase was meticulously curated by Elizabeth Efua Sutherland, the granddaughter of the late poet and playwright Efua Sunderland.
Despite being given short notice by Stonebwoy and his team, Sutherland rose to the occasion and delivered something truly artistic for the artist’s stage presence.
In an interview with Ekow Koomson on The Chat, an entertainment show on ChannelOne TV, Sutherland elaborated on the rapid preparation process she undertook to bring this vision to life.
“We received the call quite late, so it took less than a week. Normally, I would spend around six weeks preparing for such a performance. It’s rewarding to see the hard work appreciated.”
Efua Sutherland also expressed her passion for working with “conscious artists,” a trait she admires in Stonebwoy.
