Shatta Wale has found himself in a difficult situation after a court ruling ordered him to pay Maverick City Entertainment, the organizers of the popular Wildaland Festival, a sum of $120,000.
This comes as a consequence of him failing to fulfil his commitment to perform at the festival. As per the court’s decision, Shatta Wale is required to pay interest in the amount of $120,000 from December 14, 2021, until the final payment is made.
The interest rate is set at 5.5%, which amounts to a total of $10,892.47. Additionally, Shatta Wale has been instructed to pay GHC20,000. It should be noted that Shatta Wale had received the full payment of $120,000 for his performance at the Wildaland Festival but failed to deliver.
This incident led to the festival’s founder, Sadiq Abudulia Abu, publicly criticizing the artist on social media for his unprofessional behaviour. In an interview with Giovani Caleb on TV3 in October 2022, Shatta Wale confirmed that he had indeed received the payment of $120,000. On a separate note, the organizers of the Wildaland Festival have announced the return of the event after cancelling last year’s edition.
