Kennedy Agyapong has levelled accusations of corruption and illegal land sales against Henry Quartey, the Greater Accra Regional Minister.
Agyapong, who had previously assisted Quartey in becoming a prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), revealed during a recent campaign tour in the United States that the Minister is now actively working against him. Agyapong further disclosed that he had to provide additional funds to enable Quartey to purchase a house in the United States.
Agyapong expressed disappointment that Quartey, whom he had supported when Vice President Bawumia was not yet in the picture, is now siding with Bawumia and denigrating him. Agyapong also accused Quartey of using his position as Regional Minister to enrich himself and exhibiting arrogance.
“Henry Quartey, because of the big positions I secured for him, today he claims he is a regional minister… ” Agyapong said.
“He sold one piece of land to me for US$200,000 around UPSA, which has become the subject of litigation,” he added.
Speaking about the house for his second wife, Agyapong claimed that Quartey obtained a loan from the Adom Africa Market and needed a top-up, which he gave.
“When you wanted to buy a house for your second wife in America, I helped you to secure a loan at Adom Africa market, where was Bawumia?” Agyapong asked. Agyapong threatened to expose more about Quartey if he continued to attack him. “Today, he refers to me as a crazy MP who wants to become president. God will deal with Henry Quartey. If he plays with me, the things I would disclose about him,” Agyapong said.
