Ghanaian politician and businessman, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, known for his outspoken nature, has sparked yet another debate with his bold declaration about religion.
According to the Member of Parliament, attending church services is an unnecessary activity and offers no additional value to his life.
Speaking during a recent interview, Agyapong stated, “I know God for myself. Why should I go to church and give my hard-earned money to a pastor to pray for me?
It makes no sense.” His comments have ignited a wave of reactions, with some praising his candidness and others questioning his perspective on communal worship.
The lawmaker explained that his belief in God is unwavering, but he sees no need to participate in organized religious practices. “I believe in God deeply,” he emphasized.
“But going to church doesn’t make me any closer to Him than I already am. My relationship with God is personal, and it doesn’t require a middleman.”
For Agyapong, his stance is rooted in what he sees as the commercialization of religion. He criticized what he perceives as the exploitation of church members by some pastors.

“Many of these so-called men of God are running businesses, not ministries. They preach prosperity but live off the sweat of their congregants. I refuse to be a part of that system,” he said firmly.
