In a passionate speech, he expressed his excitement for the new path he has chosen. Captain Smart took a moment to express his gratitude to his co-workers, as well as the management and staff of Media General, the parent company of Onua TV.

He also extended his appreciation to the loyal viewers of the show. Reflecting on his time at Onua TV, Captain Smart acknowledged the valuable experience and exposure he gained during his tenure.

He expressed pride in his achievements and contributions to the flagship Maakye Show, which covers a wide range of topics, including current affairs, social issues, and entertainment. It is worth noting that Captain Smart joined Onua TV in June 2021 after leaving his previous position at Angel TV and Radio, where he had worked for four years.

Announcing his resignation, which probably the management of the station never saw coming, Captain Smart said:

“Let me thank those who I leave behind. You’ve all done well, from security to drivers. Today, I want to bow respectfully and say bless all of you. But for you, we would not be here. It is because of you that we are where we are today. A lot of people may not understand my speed. You may not actually understand me until you hear my very loud silence. Then you would appreciate that how we wish he was here or he were here.

“I leave when the applause is loud. Let me thank you all for your indulgence, for your passion, your compassion, your empathy, everything put together that you wake up every other morning to come listen to me. Once again, let me thank the management of Media General for containing me. My speed is always supersonic. I am a fixer. I fix. I make sure the dead will rise. I always ensure that what is spoiled, the station that is dead and nothing can be done about it, that is where I bring it up. So thank you all Ghanaians. We have done enough. Someone should come and continue,” he noted.

Almost immediately, Captain Smart delved into a speech on African unity and self-reliance, stating, “But the truth of the matter is that there’s a billboard in town the face must show. There is a billboard in town that the face must show. Ghana is my priority, and West Africa is my home. And Africa is my responsibility.”

He continued, “We have to save this country at all costs, and it will be a bash at my back and a bar I cannot hold to survive if I cannot quit to save this country. I cannot always stay in my comfort zone. I cannot. Sitting on air, holding microphones, being mic’d is a comfort zone. I want bigger, bigger, and the biggest task, the great, greater, the greatest task, to prove to the world that once again, the black man is capable of managing his own affairs.”
