The storm of political tensions in Parliament has taken a new twist as the Minority caucus demands the removal of Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwami Dafeamekpor from his role as the Majority Chief Whip.
Concerns over his leadership approach, which some have described as aggressive and disruptive, have fueled debates about his suitability for the position.
During a press conference on Friday, January 31, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin launched a scathing critique of Dafeamekpor’s conduct, questioning his ability to foster diplomacy in the House.
“To my respected friend Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwami Dafeamekpor, if he thinks that he is still in opposition and he would be a bully, then he will meet his meter,” Afenyo-Markin stated.

The controversy surrounding Dafeamekpor stems from what the Minority sees as his confrontational approach to Parliamentary proceedings.
According to Afenyo-Markin, his frequent interruptions and alleged undermining of his own chairman and Majority Leader have made him an unsuitable figure for a leadership role.
“Dafeamekpor has gained notoriety for shouting, yelling, undermining his own chairman, interrupting proceedings, undermining his own Majority Leader, and he describes himself as the avant-garde of the government,” he remarked.
