Prominent Ghanaian journalist and media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has taken to social media to address her critics after defending Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), regarding his approach to tackling the galamsey issue.
Her bold stance has sparked a flurry of reactions from both supporters and opponents alike.
In her post, Nana Aba made it clear that she stands firmly by her opinions, stating, “When it comes to politics, I stand by everything I post.”

She acknowledged the name-calling and criticism she received, but with a resolute attitude, she added, “Calling me names won’t change anything.” This statement emphasizes her belief in the importance of her message over the negativity directed toward her.
Addressing the emotional weight of the situation, she offered a light-hearted suggestion for her detractors, saying, “If you’re hurt, get a stiff drink.” This blend of humour and defiance indicates that she refuses to be swayed by the criticism aimed at her.
Nana Aba also touched on the usual political dynamics she faces, revealing that “both parties always attack me. It’s normal for me.”
The journalist’s remarks come in the wake of Dr. Bawumia’s own comments on the galamsey crisis, a significant issue in Ghana that has drawn considerable public attention and concern.
Earlier, Bawumia had emphasized the government’s commitment to combating illegal mining, known as galamsey, by outlining a series of measures aimed at restoring the integrity of the environment and protecting the country’s natural resources.
“We want to implement something new which is that we would cause the geological survey authority to map the exact location of gold deposits in mining area so that mining will not just be digging from place to place, the miners will know exactly where the gold is,” Dr. Bawumia hadsaid.
