Grammy award-winning artist Burna Boy has addressed the controversy surrounding his unexpected departure from the stage during the 2025 Greater Lagos Countdown concert.

Reflecting on the incident, Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, explained that it was a free show, and he was initially scheduled to perform for just 10 minutes.
However, he ended up on stage for nearly an hour, a length he considers far beyond what was planned. In a candid message on social media, Burna Boy shared his thoughts, saying,

“It was a free show. I was supposed to do 10 minutes and did almost an hour. Everybody knows my rule about getting on stage and startling me when I’m performing.”
Addressing the controversy surrounding his abrupt exit, Burna Boy emphasized the importance of respecting an artist’s boundaries, stating, “Don’t jump on my stage like that! I have PTSD. I love you all. Happy New Year.”
His comments highlighted the stress he felt when a fan unexpectedly rushed onto the stage, causing an unsettling moment for the performer.
