The newest South African billionaire Xolane Ndhlovu is trending after a great gesture he extended to a friend he made on Facebook.
Unlike many who flaunt their wealth, Ndhlovu belongs to a class of billionaires who shun ostentation, choosing instead to prioritize meaningful social causes and philanthropy.
“True wealth,” he believes, “isn’t about material possessions but the impact you have on the lives of others.”
This ethos has guided Ndhlovu throughout his career, and his philanthropic footprint can be found across various global crises—whether it’s contributing $1 million to Ukraine war victims, donating R500,000 to South Africa’s Solidarity Fund during the COVID-19 pandemic, or funding educational research and student scholarships.

One of the most heartwarming stories that epitomizes Ndhlovu’s compassion is that of Thandile Ramza, a young, unemployed mother from East London, South Africa.
Struggling to make ends meet, Ramza reached out to the billionaire on Facebook, initially seeking money for food. What she received, however, went far beyond her expectations. Ndhlovu not only provided her with the necessary funds but also went on to change her life entirely—offering her a job, a car, and a house.
Ramza’s dilapidated home, inherited from her late mother, was in desperate need of repair, with a leaking roof and crumbling walls. Her simple request to fix the roof stirred something deeper in Ndhlovu, who was moved by the dire state of her living conditions.
In a post shared on Instagram, Ndhlovu reflected on how he “was seized by compassion” when he saw the condition of the house.
Instead of just fixing the roof, he went on to fund the construction of a brand-new three-bedroom home, built at a cost of R770,000, excluding furniture. The house, now a beacon of hope, stands proudly among the neighbouring homes, a testament to Ndhlovu’s generosity.
What’s even more remarkable is that throughout the process, Ramza had never met Ndhlovu in person. Their only connection was through Facebook, showing how Ndhlovu’s kindness transcended personal acquaintance.
This is just one example of many where he has stepped in to help individuals in need, showing that compassion can reach across digital platforms and geographic barriers.
Ndhlovu’s rise to success is equally extraordinary. From growing up in a shack to building his mother a 12-bedroom mansion in the very same dusty neighbourhood, his life has come full circle. He even installed a borehole in the community to provide clean water, as the area still lacks municipal water infrastructure.
His wealth, now estimated to exceed R6.5 billion, primarily comes from his involvement in blockchain technology and investments in tech startups. Ndhlovu’s holdings in Binance (BNB), Solana, Bolt, and Polkadot, among others, have propelled him into the ranks of the world’s wealthiest individuals.

In 2021, he was the only African to feature on the prestigious list of The 50 Richest People in Crypto, a testament to his pioneering role in the tech space.
One of Ndhlovu’s latest ventures is DafriPremier, formerly known as DafriBank, a fintech company with the ambitious goal of disrupting PayPal’s dominance in Africa.
DafriPremier was born out of Ndhlovu’s belief that Africa needs its own payment systems, created by those who truly understand the continent’s unique market dynamics and cultural nuances. The company has already garnered significant attention, even piquing the interest of global investment giant SoftBank.
