Singer Brandy Norwood is set to make her big screen return in the forthcoming horror film “The Front Room” from A24, and the first official trailer is here, making headlines in entertainment news circles worldwide.
Based on the short story of the same name by Susan Hill, the film tells the story of a young, newly pregnant couple who is forced to take in an ailing estranged stepmother.
This marks Brandy’s return to the horror genre after a 26-year hiatus since her role in “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer” in 1998.Directed by Sam and Max Eggers, the film marks the Eggers Brothers’ directorial debut.
The movie stars Brandy alongside Kathryn Hunter, Neal Huff, and Andrew Burnap. The trailer reveals a chilling story where Brandy’s character, Belinda, faces an increasingly nightmarish situation after her father-in-law dies and her mother-in-law moves in.
The mother-in-law, Solange, played by Kathryn Hunter, is a racist who believes she is possessed by the Holy Ghost and grants her supernatural powers. As the baby’s birth approaches, Belinda grows increasingly convinced that Solange is genuinely evil.
The film’s official release hits theatres on September 6, 2024.
