The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) disappointing performance in the 2024 general elections has sparked a wave of finger-pointing, with some members blaming Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong for the party’s defeat.
However, Dormaa East MP Paul Twum Berimah has come to Agyapong’s defence, urging the party to consider the broader factors influencing voters’ decisions.
Speaking in an interview, Paul Twum Berimah dismissed claims that Agyapong’s comments about the party’s inability to “break the eight” significantly harmed their electoral fortunes.
Instead, he highlighted Agyapong’s eventual efforts to rally behind the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“Ken is a man of his word. If he won’t do something, no matter what, he won’t. But in this case, he came back to support the party,” Berimah stated, underscoring Agyapong’s integrity and loyalty.
He further explained that voter decisions are influenced by diverse issues that often transcend individual personalities. “It’s important to understand that voters consider several reasons for their choices, and Ken cannot be blamed for everything. He did his part,” Berimah added.
Sharing his personal experience, the Dormaa East MP emphasized Agyapong’s hands-on involvement in the campaign efforts.
“Even in my constituency, he came to support me and Bawumia. People considered a lot of things before voting—maybe an unfixed road leading to their house or something like that. So I don’t think Ken must be blamed.”
