Nollywood actress Mojisola Adebanjo, popularly known as Jisola, has opened up about how her beauty and versatility have played a key role in shaping her acting career.
In an interview with Potpourri, Jisola candidly shared, “Yes, I believe my sex appeal and beauty have played a role in securing movie roles.
“I often receive compliments on my attractiveness, particularly regarding my facial expressions, physical presentation, dress sense, authenticity, and voice. For instance, in 2021, I landed a role because of a photo that showcased a specific look, which resonated with the casting team.”
Beyond her physical attributes, the actress emphasized the importance of versatility in her craft. “I would regard versatility as my most important asset.
“Being able to adapt to a wide range of roles and genres allows me to showcase my talent and connect with diverse audiences. You can see this in my movie Farida’s Secret and the role I played in the YouTube series Oga Osas, amongst other projects.
“Versatility is crucial for bringing depth and authenticity to each character and making a lasting impact. Alongside versatility, having a strong work ethic, resilience, and continuously refining my craft are also vital for success in this industry.”
Jisola also reflected on how global streaming platforms like Netflix have elevated Nollywood on the international stage. “Netflix and other streaming platforms have significantly expanded the reach and distribution of Nollywood movies.
“They offer our industry a global audience, allowing our content to be viewed by people from different regions outside of traditional Nigerian and African markets.
“This global exposure not only enhances the international visibility of Nollywood films but also fosters cross-cultural exchange and collaboration.”
Jisola gained recognition for her work in films like Farida’s Secret and her role in the YouTube series Oga Osas.
