Azonto Won’t Win Elections – Bridget Otoo Weighs in on Stonebwoy Drama

Bridget Otoo has waded into the ongoing debate surrounding Stonebwoy’s removal from the NDC’s “Ghana Victory Concert,” dismissing claims that the incident could harm the party’s electoral fortunes.

According to the Metro TV journalist, the influence of creatives on elections is vastly overstated.

“To me, creatives do not impact elections. If they did, the Democrats would have never lost an election. Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, LeBron James, and others endorsed Kamala, yet they still didn’t win.

“People vote based on their pockets, not because of Azonto,” she remarked in a candid assessment on social media.

Her comment comes after the backlash surrounding Stonebwoy’s last-minute exclusion from the event, a decision reportedly influenced by NDC grassroots members unhappy with the dancehall artiste’s recent engagements with the NPP.

Stonebwoy, initially publicized as one of the concert’s headline acts, was dropped after mounting pressure from party loyalists. Many viewed his association with the NPP as a betrayal, sparking fears that his exclusion could alienate his loyal fanbase, particularly in his stronghold of Ashaiman.

Fans in the area have already taken to social media to voice their displeasure, with some threatening to withdraw their support for the NDC in future elections.

The controversy has led to widespread concern among some party supporters and political analysts, who believe sidelining Stonebwoy could create a ripple effect that harms the NDC’s appeal among younger voters. Calls for reconciliation have intensified, with many urging the party to reconsider its stance.

However, Bridget Otoo sees the issue differently. For her, the political stakes are tied more to economic realities than celebrity endorsements or public spats.

“I also pray creatives make enough money from their crafts so they don’t have to rely on the political class for survival,” she added, emphasizing the importance of financial independence for artists.
