Background to soldier murdered at Ashaiman

On Friday, March 3, 2023, the soldier, who was raised in Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region and was stationed in Sunyani in the Bono Region, asked his commanders for approval to return home and visit his parents in Ashaiman.

The 21-year-old soldier identified as Private Sherrif Imoro was discovered dead in a pool of blood on Saturday morning.

His murder sparked a military invasion in the Ashaiman neighbourhood on Tuesday, where many people were brutalized during an operation authorized by the Military High Command to attack the area and find the perpetrators.
