An American woman by name Jessie Clark Funk, has apologized for painting a negative narrative about Ghana.
Her apology comes after media personality, Nana Aba Anamoah, called her out on social media.
The woman is believed to be a member of the Latter Day Saints. She referred to parts of Accra as a filthy and poverty-stricken place in a video available online.
Speaking about the church’s humanitarian work around the world, she posited that her time in Ghana made her believe that the poor, hungry, and filthy people she met there would rather see the church’s resources put towards improving their lives than constructing grand temples.
She however mentioned in the video that part of her heart was in Ghana.
Nana Aba responded to Clark Funk’s statements on her Instagram and twitter page, warning her against spreading a false narrative about Ghana for her own personal interests, and asking her to stop giving the impression that Ghanaians are hostile to the Church of Latter-Day Saints.
The woman has now apologized for her comments, and says she was taken out of context. Several Ghanaians on social media have also taken her to the cleaners.
