A recent update on the Chef Smith situation reveals that his sponsor, Amardia Shopping Center, has notified the police about the Guinness World Record attempt incident.
David Caleb Gborglah, the Brands and Marketing Manager at Amardia Shopping Center stated in an interview with Kofi Adoma Nwanwani of Kofi TV that despite Chef Smith’s apology, they had involved the police as fraud is a serious offence.
Gborglah also highlighted the efforts he and his team put into ensuring the success of the cooking marathon, including rushing to the event location, facing risks on the Accra-Tema Motorway, and even leaving his pregnant wife at home to handle urgent matters related to Chef Smith’s event.
“He knows the sacrifices I made to make this job a success. I remember an instance where I had to rush to the venue using a motorbike on the Accra-Tema Motorway due to an emergency call during the cook-a-thon. I even left my pregnant wife at home, and he was aware. I had no choice but to support and ensure everything was done well.
“He has apologized, and we’ve heard it, but now it’s up to the police to do their job. Amardia Shopping Center has nothing more to say. It’s no longer about us; it’s about fraud, and fraud is punishable by law.
He expressed doubt regarding the possibility of recovering the financial losses incurred by the company from Chef Smith, while commenting on the situation.
“Chef Smith won’t be able to reimburse the losses we’ve suffered because of him. Have you seen his face during the apology? Have you looked at him?” he remarked, sparking a new conversation around entertainment news in Ghana.
