Alan Kyeremanteng Urges NPP Supporters To Vote ‘Skirt And Blouse’ As He Goes Independent

Outgoing member of the New Patriotic Party, Alan Kyeremanteng has urged supporters of the party to vote ‘skirt and blouse’ after he officially resigned from the party and declared his intention to run in the 2024 elections as an independent candidate.

Alan further asked Ghanaians to give him the mandate to lead the country as an independent candidate, as he has no ties with the NPP or NDC which means he has new ideas to formulate to turn the fortunes of the country around.

He said the concept of becoming the first independent candidate to be the president of the Republic of Ghana would revolutionize the country and take it to the next level.

In a speech streamed live on social media, Alan said his breakaway from the party does not mean he has turned his back on the party. He said he still cherishes his relationship with the rank and file of the NPP party while urging the supporters to vote for their preferred NPP parliamentary candidates and vote for him as the next president of Ghana.

Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen further explained why he has left the NPP and is gearing up to contest the 2024 elections as an independent candidate. On Monday, September 25, 2023, Alan submitted his resignation letter to the NPP, stating that he was no longer interested in being a member of the party.

He gave a press conference shortly after that to make the announcement that he would run as an independent in 2024. He is currently starting a movement with the slogan “Movement for Change” and the monarch butterfly as its emblem.

The NPP is trying to end this eight-year cycle of government change. After a poster advertising his scheduled press conference at the Movenpick Hotel on Monday afternoon was released by his advisers and fans, rumors regarding Alan Kyerematen’s departure and independent presidential ambition grew over the weekend and made NPP members uneasy.

The speculation surrounding Alan’s potential withdrawal from the NPP presidential race had actually begun prior to September 5, 2023, when he officially announced his decision. Alan had been shortlisted as one of the top five candidates for the final selection on November 4, 2023.

However, there were concerns among certain individuals that he would not succeed in the November 4 election, given the popularity of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who were considered the frontrunners in the Special Super Delegates conference.
