Akwaboah has explained he wiped his lips following a kiss with his newly wedded wife during their traditional wedding ceremony, which has garnered significant attention in an online video.
During an interview on the Delay Show with Deloris Frimpong Manso, Akwaboah acknowledged the various commentaries circulating online and clarified that his actions were not driven by any ill intentions.
Expanding on his statement, the renowned Highlife singer emphasized that his gesture should not be misconstrued as a lack of enjoyment during the kiss, contrary to what some have speculated.
Instead, he simply aimed to prevent any potential awkwardness caused by smeared lipstick on his face, a common occurrence after a kiss.
Akwaboah further justified his decision by recounting his experiences performing at numerous wedding ceremonies, where he observed that grooms often ended up with lipstick all over their lips after the kiss.
Consequently, he made a conscious effort to avoid such a situation during his own wedding.
“Nobody marries their enemies. That’s the choice I made, and I’m happy about it. I have performed at many wedding ceremonies.
“I have noticed that after the bride and groom kiss, the groom would have lipstick all over his lips. So, I didn’t clean because of what people were saying out there; I cleaned because I knew her lipstick would be all over my lips. So, for my face not to look awkward, I had to clean it,” he said.
