President Akufo-Addo’s final State of the Nation Address has drawn sharp criticism from Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide and spokesperson for President-elect John Mahama’s 2024 campaign.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on January 4, Mogtari expressed her deep dissatisfaction with the President’s failure to show any sign of remorse or acknowledgement for the struggles Ghanaians have faced under his leadership.
Reflecting on Akufo-Addo’s speech, Mogtari said, “I was truly disappointed. There was no sign of regret, no expression of sadness, and certainly no respect for the Ghanaians who put him in office back in 2016.

The people who supported him didn’t get the recognition they deserve.”
She continued, criticizing the lack of empathy and humility that many had hoped would mark the end of his presidency.
“A simple gesture of humility, a word of regret, could have gone a long way in repairing his image.
“At one point, he proudly declared that serving as President was his greatest achievement, yet he failed to reflect that in his final address,” she stated.
Mogtari, who has long been involved in political circles, felt that the President, after years of leadership, should have demonstrated humility in his last days in office.
“After all these years in public service, we expected a touch of humility from him in the final days of his presidency, but that simply didn’t happen,” she added.
