Akufo-Addo Economy So Messed Up, NPP Can’t Even Tell Ghanaians Anything Better – Alan Kyerematen

According to Alan Kyerematen, the deteriorating Ghanaian economy under President Nana Akufo-Addo is making it challenging for the ruling New Patriotic Party to develop a message for the 2024 election.

The former minister of trade and industries said, in a speech to the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council during his campaign, that while his former boss had achieved some significant milestones, the currently broken economy dwarfed those accomplishments to the point where the party was unable to even develop a convincing message to present to voters.

Mr Kyerematen claimed that as a result, the NPP is unable to even craft a message to appeal to voters.

Mr Kyerematen pointed out, for instance, that the Akufo-Addo government introduced the Free SHS, Planting for Food and Jobs, One District One Factory and a lot more programmes but contrasted: “As we are all aware, the economy is currently not doing well; things are not well at all”.

Mr Kyerematen claimed that as a result, the NPP is unable to even craft a message to appeal to voters. However, he urged the electorate to, for the first time, give the same party that has already been in power for two terms another chance to correct its mistakes, arguing that it is a better option than changing the party in government for another one given the history of the country, which shows that succeeding governments often undo the progress made by their predecessors of a different party.
