President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has emphasized the Government’s commitment to upholding Ghana’s strong democratic reputation and territorial integrity throughout the upcoming December 7 general election.

Ghana has become a respected figure in the West African Sub-region for its democratic values and peaceful environment, serving as a hub for investment and stability. The President made it clear that the nation will not regress into political unrest, jeopardizing the progress made in socioeconomic and democratic aspects during his tenure.

Addressing the Chiefs and people of Effutu (Winneba) in the Central Region during the annual Aboakyer Festival, President Akufo-Addo urged everyone to avoid actions that could disrupt the country’s peace.

The festival, held under the theme “Promoting Tradition and Development through Aboakyer Celebration,” featured various activities such as musical shows, community clean-up exercises, health walks, regatta/tug-of-war, and marathon races.

President Akufo-Addo stressed that elections should not be a platform for conflict, urging all citizens to play their part in ensuring a peaceful and successful election to safeguard democracy.

“The world awaits the outcome and events leading to, during and after the December 7 polls, as a result, all must show political maturity and carry out routine works in peace to prove to the world that Ghana is a peaceful country,” he said.

He then introduced Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as NPP flagbearer to the people and urged them to vote for him and NPP MPs, highlighting the party’s development projects.

The president also commended the Effutu community for preserving traditions and encouraging unity for development.

Neenyi Ghartey VII praised the President for the fish landing facility and road reconstruction and appealed for the modernization of the Winneba Market Complex.
