Richard Ahiagbah, director of communications for the New Patriotic Party, has replied to allegations made by Cassiel Ato Forson that the government and the Bank of Ghana have mishandled the economy.

In a Twitter post, made by the Minority Leader Mr. Ato Forson stated that the central bank of Ghana has not been following the regulations governing its activities, which has led to a number of economic problems for the country.

Inflation is @ 54.1% & MPR now @ 28 %! We are here largely because BoG has so far printed over ¢50bn in one year & depleted net intl reserves to record lows as of end-Dec. 2022. BOG’s governor continues to breach Section 30 (2) and 30 (7) of BoG (Amendment) Act 2016 (Act 918)

Those destroying the livelihoods of Ghanaians will soon be held to account! he continued.

On the other hand, Richard Ahiagbah replied to Ato Forson through Twitter, pointing out the effects of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war on the economy and comparing them to times before these events.

“Hon. Minority Leader, pls do 2 things 1. Study this govt’s 2017, 2018 & 2019 performances 2.Take note of the global economic crisis brought on by Covid-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war Unlike you, we’re working for the economy to bounce back” he said.
