Advantages And Disadvantages Of Getting Married Early

Published on

, Ghana Street Journal

People used to get married in their teens and early 20s, but now they often wait until they’re in their 30s or even 40s.

Modern-day couples often wait until later in life to start a family due to factors such as work, school, and social obligations. When is the best time to tie the knot? Any couple who are of legal age can get married. In most nations, the minimum age to legally enter into contracts is eighteen. This means that anyone above the age of 18 can get married without the permission of their parents or guardians, but is this a good idea?

Some advantages are listed as follows:

Fewer challenges in labour and delivery, and more time to bond with your children

According to research, the probability of having children declines with age. That covers the strength of a man’s sperm and the quality of an egg from a woman. Getting married at a young age allows you to bypass this difficulty more quickly. When you marry young, you get to enjoy your children’s growth stages while still in your prime. Your life is just beginning when your children are grown.

You build a life together

Two heads are better than one if you can avoid marrying someone who would hinder your ambitions and success. You can build the life you’ve always dreamed of by combining your resources and working together.

You stop the stressful hunt for the one

The older you are, the harder it is to find “the one,” and the more you want to give up on the search. It would be wonderful to leave the dating scene as soon as possible because it is so toxic. Furthermore, if you meet someone you love and the connection is strong, there’s no reason to wait.

Negative aspects

Marriage restricts your freedom

When you’re single, you can go wherever you want, buy anything you want, and leave the house whenever you like without informing anyone where you’re going. The truth is that everyone needs company. However, others may not experience it until much later in life. Some people might even find it more than once, which is fine.

Having children is a big responsibility

Babies are adorable, but they also drain your bank account and create a constant mess. Having a child or children will require you to put your own wants on hold to tend to theirs. It could even mean putting your career ambitions on hold.

You can feel like you’ve outgrown your marriage and become bored

People change. Both of you will change over time. What do you do if, one day, you realise your love interest isn’t the same person you fell in love with? If you find them uninteresting and maybe irritating, what options do you have? Is there a way to get around that?
