In a display of solidarity with Ghana’s National Democratic Congress (NDC), several well-known figures from the country’s entertainment industry attended the Creative Connect event in Kumasi on Tuesday.
Organized by the NDC, the gathering brought together leaders from the creative sector to discuss the party’s vision for Ghana’s cultural and entertainment landscape.
Leading the discussions was the NDC’s flagbearer and former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, who is preparing for a crucial election face-off against the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in just three weeks.
Speaking at the event, Mahama emphasized his commitment to fostering the growth of Ghana’s creative industries, a sector that he described as “crucial to our nation’s identity and economic future.”

“We’re here today not just to talk but to listen,” Mahama said to an attentive audience of creatives and media personalities. “Ghana’s creative sector is a powerhouse of talent, and it deserves the right infrastructure, resources, and policies to thrive. My vision is to support and amplify your voices, not just as entertainers but as vital contributors to Ghana’s culture and economy.”
Among the attendees were well-known celebrities and advocates for the arts, including media personality and Neat FM host Ola Michael, music executive and entertainment pundit Bullgod, and popular actor Wayoosi.
Legendary broadcaster Abeiku Santana also took part in the event, where he underscored the need for a dedicated focus on the creative sector.
“Politicians often overlook the creative industry, but we are a major part of the economy and Ghana’s identity,” said Abeiku Santana. “We need a leader who sees our value and respects our contributions. I believe the NDC has the vision to bring about the changes we’ve been asking for.”
The NDC’s Creative Connect event was designed as a forum to discuss practical support for the creative industry, from funding and resources to training and development. Many in Ghana’s entertainment industry have long voiced their frustrations with what they see as a lack of meaningful support from the government.
With social media playing an increasingly prominent role in shaping public opinion, several Ghanaian entertainers are using their platforms to advocate for change and to express support for candidates who recognize the sector’s importance.
