Kwame Asare-Obeng, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, has called on the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to provide a detailed update on the investigation into the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale.
In a Facebook post, the MP revealed that during an earlier meeting with the CID headquarters, he provided crucial information regarding the assassination of Suale, identifying a high-profile minister from the previous government who was allegedly involved in contracting individuals to carry out the heinous crime.
Asare-Obeng also stated that he disclosed the name of a credible source in the presence of the CID director, further emphasizing the gravity of the matter.

“As I mentioned during my meeting with the CID, the involvement of this high-profile minister must be thoroughly investigated,” Asare-Obeng stated. “I have provided critical information and a credible source, and I believe the public has a right to know what progress has been made on this case.”
The MP made it clear that it is now crucial for the CID to update the public on the status of the investigation. He stressed that if the investigation has encountered delays, the CID director should justify for the additional time required to complete the process. Asare-Obeng expressed concern that the case, which has captured the attention of the nation, may have been sidelined.
“As it stands, it appears the matter has been brushed aside,” the MP added. “If no substantial update is provided within the next 48 hours, I will be forced to invoke my authority as a Member of Parliament to formally summon the Ghana Police Service to brief Parliament on the case.”
Asare-Obeng further warned that if the Police Service fails to provide satisfactory answers, he will not hesitate to take the matter to the public through social media.
“Should that fail, I will utilize my Facebook and other social media platforms to update the nation on what I know about the matter, which will include the name of the alleged perpetrator.”
This statement from the MP comes amid growing public interest in the Ahmed Suale murder case, which has remained unsolved since January 2019.
Suale, a key figure behind the undercover investigations that exposed corruption within the Ghana Football Association, was tragically gunned down in cold blood.
