A Country Called Ghana movie written and produced by actor Lilwin has been nominated for a prestigious award at the 2024 Black Star International Film Festival.
The movie has been acknowledged in the distinguished category of ‘Black Star Movie of the Year.’
The movie which blended a cast of Nigerian and Ghanaian thespians and was directed by Fiifi Gharbin, has received worldwide recognition, securing a cinema distribution agreement and earning nominations at multiple international film festivals, such as Germany, New Zealand, and IMO International.
Additionally, it is scheduled to be showcased at the Nollywood Film Festival.
The Black Star International Film Festival (BSIFF) is an annual event held in Accra, Ghana.
The festival’s objective is to support and honour the works of filmmakers from Africa and the diaspora, while also providing a platform for African films to be displayed on a global scale.
BSIFF was established to establish a platform for the celebration and acknowledgement of African cinema, as well as the elevation of Black/African narratives.
The festival includes film screenings, panel discussions, storytelling camps, workshops, and networking opportunities for filmmakers, industry professionals, and film enthusiasts.
BSIFF welcomes submissions of feature-length and short films in various genres, including fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental films.
The festival also presents awards in various categories.
