Kwasi Aboagye says he remains resolute in his commitment to truth, despite the derogatory remarks made by dancehall musician, Shatta Wale.
He firmly maintains his assertion that Wale’s claim of receiving a substantial sum for his performance at the Ghana Music Awards UK is a blatant falsehood.
“I still stand by my statements. Go ahead and insult. That’s the only thing you can do,” he stated.
He expressed that his statement was based on thorough fact-checking backed by confirmation from reliable sources.
“When we are talking about issues, it is not about insults. As a journalist, I am a member of the fourth estate of the realm. We fact-checked. If it is not true, it is my duty as a journalist to fact-check. And people have called me to confirm that indeed, it is not true,” Kwasi Aboagye further added.
He said parading such claims could expose him to being taxed.
“If he won’t learn from it but rather insult, then that’s his business. Soon the UK government will come after you and you will learn. They have a threshold for income and £80,000 is above that threshold.
As a foreign entertainer, you’d have to pay once you earn above that money, there is a 20%. Next time, you will learn,” he noted on this show on Peace FM.
In furtherance of the foregoing, Shatta Wale has said he intends to ensure Kwasi Aboagye’s dismissal from Peace FM.
This warning was prompted by Aboagye’s claim that Shatta Wale did not receive £80,000 for his performance at the Ghana Music Awards UK. During his radio show on October 11, Aboagye expressed skepticism about Shatta Wale’s purported performance fee, stating that no Ghanaian event organizer would pay such a large sum for a performance.
Shatta Wale responded by insulting the broadcaster and threatening him during a TikTok Live video. He even directed his anger towards Aboagye’s employers, Osei Kwame Despite and Fadda Dickson. Shatta Wale maintains that he was paid the exact amount he claimed.
“Kwasi Aboagye, if you are not sacked from Peace FM… You, Despite, and Fadda Dickson are all fools. I never took anybody’s money. Nobody knew when I was sleeping at Circle. Just because you have a company. Even those in the company can’t anyone tell you that you’re being foolish? You guys are in Ghana thinking you are billionaires.” he fumed.
