As 20-year-old multitalented actor and model Katleho Moleko prepares to showcase his skills at the prestigious New York International Model and Talent Association (IMTA) convention, he reflects on his journey and the challenges he faces. Here’s a look at the key points from his inspiring story.

1. Discovering His Talent Early On Katleho Moleko found his passion for the arts through a love for singing and acting at a young age. His early discovery of his talents set the foundation for a career in the entertainment industry.

2. Refining Skills Through Education Moleko’s dedication to his craft led him to study drama in high school, where he honed his acting skills. With the support of family and friends, he realized that his passion could become a viable career path.

3. Multifaceted Talents With skills in acting, modelling, and singing, Moleko is set to join artists from around the globe at the IMTA convention. The event will give him a platform to gain exposure and connect with industry professionals, further enhancing his multifaceted career.

4. Impressing International Scouts Earlier this year, Moleko participated in the International Arts and Talent Showcase (IATS), where he caught the attention of international scouts. His performance at IATS was a pivotal moment that opened the door to the IMTA opportunity.

Seeking Financial Support Moleko’s journey to the IMTA convention requires significant financial resources for expenses such as registration, flights, and accommodation. “I have just begun the process of securing funding for IMTA. And while I do not have contributions in place yet, I am actively working on building partnerships and exploring potential sources of support,” he explained.

6. Challenges in Securing Funding Despite his efforts to secure support, Moleko faced challenges when reaching out to the Department of Sports Arts and Culture.

He was informed that funding via the Mzansi Golden Economy programme is limited to registered Non-Government Organisations. “I asked about alternative ways of getting funded by the department.

“And I was told to register a company and nothing further. I reached out to the national government because I was unable to reach the Free State government,” Moleko shared.

7. Expanding His Network and Opportunities As he prepares for the IMTA convention, Moleko aims to expand his network, gain international exposure, and collaborate with diverse talent. “I am also aiming to grow as an artist in South Africa, to gain recognition here, and be signed by an international agency. Ultimately, I want to develop my craft, reach new audiences, and build a global presence,” he stated.
