6 Most Interesting Makeup Myths And Facts You Need To Know

Makeup knowledge and advice can be found just about anywhere these days, from social media to beauty influencers to your friend’s sister. However, a large percentage of the suggestions turned out to be false. Makeup is too sensitive to be done by trial and error.

Makeup can be harsh on the skin, so be careful to use products that won’t irritate your skin, whether it’s normal, dry, or sensitive. The following is a compilation of false assumptions and facts about cosmetics that we hope will assist you in making educated purchases. Find out how to get the most out of your cosmetics by learning all you can about them.

Here are ten everyday assumptions about makeup that are actually lies.

  • When you wear makeup often, you get older faster – This is completely false. The key reasons why skin ages faster are not getting enough sleep and not making efforts to keep it clean and hydrated. Use only hypoallergenic products that have been proven effective in preventing breakouts and allergy reactions. Another piece of advice is to remove any and all traces of makeup before going to bed for the night. Keep your skin hydrated while it rests and renews itself overnight.
  • Not everyone should wear red lipstick – This is a common misconception among young people and makeup beginners, but it is not true. Anyone can look fantastic while wearing red lipstick. The key thing to keep in mind is to choose a red that complements your skin tone. There are many shades of red lipstick to choose from, and blue-undertoned reds are the most universally flattering. Now you can experiment with several colours of red to find the one that best complements your skin tone.
  • Wearing makeup is the cause of acne – Makeup has never been shown in any study to result in acne. Acne and other diseases can result from improper hygiene practises, such as the use of expired or low-quality goods. Breakouts after a party or wedding may also be caused by factors like not properly removing makeup, sleeping in it, using dirty brushes, etc. Misuse of products, such as applying a dewy-finished foundation on oily skin, can also lead to breakouts.
  • Women over 40 can’t wear eyeshadow with sparkles – Totally false! It’s true that shimmery shades often get up in fine wrinkles and creases. To avoid having fine lines show, apply it over the centre of the lid or keep it close to the lash line. Always start with a primer before applying eyeshadow.
  • A lip plumper really does make your lips bigger – If you have thin lips, you may have heard more than one person say that you should use a lip plumper. It has hot pepper, cinnamon, menthol, and caffeine, which make your lips swell up because they hurt your skin. It’s a mistake to think that it’s a treatment and that the effects will last longer. The truth is that it is not a lasting way to make your lips fuller. Hyaluronic acid fills are the only way to permanently fix thin lips.
  • The colour of your foundation should be lighter than the colour of your skin. – The colour of your foundation should match the colour of your skin so that it appears to be natural. The product should go on smoothly and not make your skin look lighter or darker than it already is.
