These Kumawood actors herein, unfortunately, came to the realization quite belatedly that the movie and music industries are distinct entities, despite their interconnectedness.
Their attempt to transition into the music arena was met with disappointment, as they failed to replicate their previous success.
Regrettably, their efforts went unnoticed, and they struggled to capture the attention of the audience. It is worth acknowledging that many of them produced commendable content that struck a chord with Ghanaians, yet even their finest creations fell short of achieving the desired impact.
1. Yaa Jackson
Yaa Jackson strategically incorporated sexual themes into her music to make a bold entrance into the industry. Despite releasing explicit tracks such as Ehwe Papa, Mekon Ado, and Ehye Mu, she has not garnered much attention from the Ghanaian audience.
2. Kwaku Manu
Kwaku Manu, a multi-talented Kumawood actor and musician, is facing a lack of attention from Ghanaians towards his songs. Despite his efforts, tracks like Wo Ye Me Taste and Wobete Kraw did not gain the desired prominence he had anticipated.
3. Emelia Brobbey
In 2019, Emelia Brobbey released a song that gained significant attention on social media. Her debut single, Fa Meko, was widely regarded as the worst song of the year on various social platforms.
In an interview with Class FM, the actress-turned-singer acknowledged that while the criticism and insults were painful, they inadvertently served as effective promotion for her.
‘So, I might say that to me, I think it’s a blessing in disguise because it didn’t give me much work to do so far as promotion is concerned but some few insults were hurting. I’m human, I mean I can’t say that it didn’t hurt.’ she said.
4. Lilwin
Kwadwo Nkansah, also known as Lilwin, is considered the face of Kumawood. Despite achieving great success in the film industry, he has struggled to make a mark in the music industry.
While he has released a few popular songs such as Ladder and Mama Boss Papa, Lilwin’s music career has been far from successful.
The lack of quality and substance in his songs clearly indicates that music may not be his forte.
5. Tracey Boakye
Tracey Boakye, an actress and entrepreneur, dropped her first single Try Again featuring Brother Sammy four years ago. Unfortunately, the song did not gain much traction and it seems that her venture into music has gone unnoticed by many.
