Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale recently shared some compelling insights during his appearance on the “Rants, Bants and Confessions” podcast.

Here are five notable things he revealed:

1. Breakup with Michy: Shatta Wale opened up about his breakup with his ex-girlfriend and baby mama, Michy. He expressed how deeply in love he was with her and how he never wanted the relationship to end. “I felt she was not appreciative of everything I did for her,” he admitted. Despite the heartbreak, Shatta Wale has moved on and is now focused on his relationship with his new girlfriend, Maali. His candidness about his personal life offers a glimpse into the emotional side of the usually tough and unyielding artist.

2. Stonebwoy Feud: Addressing his long-standing feud with fellow artist Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale didn’t hold back. He claimed that Stonebwoy has become “swollen-headed” with fame and expressed disappointment that Stonebwoy was not arrested for brandishing a gun during their altercation at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. “I’ve tried to reconcile with Stonebwoy multiple times, but my efforts have been in vain,” he shared, reflecting on the complexities of their relationship and the challenges of navigating public spats in the music industry.

3. Financial Discipline: Shatta Wale revealed an impressive aspect of his past, sharing that he saved GH₵750,000 by the age of 14. “My father used to give me substantial amounts of money as pocket money, and I saved diligently,” he said. He even went to Prudential Bank to open an account, pretending to be 18 years old. This anecdote highlights his financial savvy from a young age, a trait that has undoubtedly contributed to his success in the music industry.

4. Criticism of Fake Lives: Shatta Wale did not shy away from calling out some artists for living fake lives online. He mentioned that many artists borrow items from friends to create an illusion of wealth and success on social media. “Fans need to look beyond the surface and seek authenticity in the content they consume,” he urged. His criticism serves as a reminder of the pressures artists face to maintain certain images and the importance of staying true to oneself.

5. Support for Collaboration: Despite his feuds, Shatta Wale expressed his willingness to collaborate with other artists. He emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in the music industry. “We’re all in this business to make music and grow the industry, not to hold onto conflicts,” he stated. His commitment to working with others highlights his dedication to fostering a positive and collaborative environment within the Ghanaian music scene.
