For Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene, the decision to release new music is never as simple as it seems.
“When I’m about to drop a song, it weighs on me because sometimes I can sit for about a month or two just deciding when to release it,” Kuami Eugene revealed during an interview on Cape Coast-based Property FM.

Despite having an impressive catalogue of unreleased material, the artist explained that selecting the right song at the right time can be a daunting task.
“It’s not like I don’t have a song. I do have a lot of them just waiting to be released. But currently, I have about 46 songs,” he added.
His large stockpile of tracks speaks to his prolific songwriting, yet even with such a wealth of material, the pressure to choose the right one for his audience lingers.
The difficulty of releasing music isn’t just about the song itself; it’s about how the public will respond.
“But I don’t know which one to drop next because if I’m not lucky and I drop a song which people feel is not hard, I would be bashed by people,” Kuami Eugene confessed, reflecting the common anxiety that artists face in an industry where public reception can be harsh.
This vulnerability is something many listeners don’t often see behind the scenes, as artists like Kuami Eugene are frequently under the microscope.

Despite this, the “Angela” hitmaker acknowledged that he has been fortunate with the reception of his past releases.
“But by the grace of God, every song that I release on the music scene, people gladly welcome it and accept it wholeheartedly,” he said, expressing gratitude for the positive reception he’s received throughout his career.
