The founder of Ghana Music Awards – UK, Alordia, also known as Nii Ofori Tackie, has recently expressed his thoughts on the potential Artiste of the Year award winner at the upcoming 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
The event is scheduled to take place on June 1 at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre.
With the competition boiling down to King Promise and Stonebwoy, fans and experts alike are split on who will emerge victorious.
Alordia, however, believes that both artists deserve the prestigious title and refrains from picking a favourite between the two. He shared this opinion during an interview with Amansan Krakye on Property FM.
“Every year comes with a debate as to who deserves the Artiste of the Year crown at the Ghana Music Awards but both Stonebwoy and King Promise have worked very hard,” he said.
“This year particularly these two artistes have really done exceedingly well so it would be very difficult to sit down and say that King Promise or Stonebwoy deserves it unless I go back to check their streaming numbers”.
During an interview on Cape Coast-based Property FM, he disclosed that the only thing that can be used to determine who emerges top will be digital streams and YouTube views.
“To me YouTube views and streaming counts a lot and regarding Ghana Music Awards UK we also look at the comments which is important to determine who wins the Artiste of the year.
“Before I decide on who wins unless I get time to look at the streams King Promise had also that of Stonebwoy coupled with their YouTube views and comments but both of them deserve it,” he shared.
