2024 Elections: Mahama Will Beat Bawumia Hands Down- Kennedy Agyapong

Kennedy Agaypong has stated emphatically that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia stands no chance against John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 elections.

Sounding very furious during a recent radio interview on Kings Radio, a US-based media outlet, on September 24, 2023, the aspiring flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) put forth an allegation suggesting that Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has made commitments to assign the vice presidential position to seven Members of Parliament from the Ashanti Region.

Mr Agyapong further expressed his concern that if Dr Bawumia were to assume the role of the party’s flagbearer, it could potentially result in the NPP being relegated to the opposition. He argued that even in the event of a victory, Dr Bawumia would be unable to surpass the popularity and influence of Mahama.

“What they are doing in the Ashanti Region has intimidated 47 MPs, all because of one vice president position. They have promised seven of the Ashanti regional MPs for the vice president’s slots, and they are pushing everybody because they want the vice president position,” Agyapong said.

He added: “One vice president, 17 people are contesting for the slot, and because of that, they have been blinded; they know they will lose, because how can the vice president beat Mahama?

“It is not possible upon all his utterances. Yet, because of greed and selfishness, they want us to go into opposition and I will resist that, I won’t allow us to go into opposition.”

Meanwhile, Kwame Owusu, Campaign Manager of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, has said that indeed, his boss will definitely give Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia a showdown in the truest sense of the word when the NPP goes to the polls to elect their flagbearer on November 4 ahead of the 2024 general elections.

He suggested that Kennedy Agyapong’s ‘showdown, which has now become a lexicon in the political sphere, will be translated literally during the elections. He made this known in a fresh interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Eyewitness News on Citi FM.

He said;

Yes we are going to give them a showdown. You know he has been a leader. Everything that he says, he’s a pacesetter. Everything that he does. Even look at the showdown, now it has become a message for everybody including Dr Bawumia using it about two or three times. So he is a pacesetter and for us, he is going to actually give him a showdown come Nov 4 and people are very excited about this term and it is going like bushfire. And we are going to give them a showdown.
