Ghana’s nail-biting draw with Mozambique has left many Ghanaians furious, and Samini took to social media to vent his frustration, directing harsh words towards Richard Ofori for his lack of awareness that resulted in the crucial goal that the Mozambicans scored.
Samini emphasized that Ofori’s actions were a major setback for Ghana’s chances of advancing in the competition.
In their latest match against Mozambique, Ghana was leading 2-0 until the 90th minute, but two late goals from Mozambique resulted in a 2-2 draw and dimmed Ghana’s hopes of reaching the Last 16.
Despite finishing third in Group B with two points, it remains uncertain whether Ghana will advance to the next round. Cape Verde, who finished first in the group after a 2-2 draw against Egypt, and Egypt, who finished second, have secured their spots in the knockout stages.
Ghana’s early penalty goal by Jordan Ayew and his subsequent conversion of a second penalty seemed to secure their victory, but a penalty awarded to Mozambique in the first minute of optional time and a late equalizer from Renildo Mandava turned the tables.
Turning his guns on Richard Ofori, Samini said:
“I’m not insulting you but what you did was very stupid. Why touch the ball if you are not sure? You either catch it or leave it because the ball was not entering the post.
“You were 100 percent sure that the ball was not entering the post, so why? Why were you acting like you didn’t touch the ball because you knew what you had done was stupid? You are a fool. You are a fool that’s why you acted like you are back to your senses and you were like ‘Why did I touch the ball in the first place?”.”
Both Ghana and Mozambique ended the group stages with two points each.
