The just ended Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre, has been widely regarded as one of the best in recent memory.

Charterhouse, the organizing body, showcased its expertise in terms of organization, set design, coordination, lighting, and other logistical aspects, providing Ghanaians with an event to remember throughout the year.

This year’s awards ceremony saw fewer controversies surrounding the distribution of awards, except for the highly coveted Artiste of the Year category, which came down to a close competition between King Promise and Stonebwoy.

The anticipation and tension surrounding the announcement of the winner were palpable, as fans eagerly awaited the outcome.

Ultimately, Stonebwoy emerged victorious, becoming only the second artist in the history of the awards to claim this prestigious title.

However, there was another noteworthy aspect of this year’s ceremony, and that was the emergence of King Paluta.

His story caught the attention of Tru News Report, and this article aims to shed light on his journey. King Paluta was honoured with the New Artiste of the Year award, and Hiplife Song of the Year.

His acceptance speech, as well as the overwhelming support he received on stage, demonstrated the significance of this achievement to him.

According to Charterhouse, the Best New Artiste is the Artiste(s) adjudged by the Academy, Board and the General Public as the most promising and talented emerging artiste(s).

The award goes to a relatively new artiste(s) who released a single/EP/album that establishes the public identity of the artiste within the year under review.

Now, let’s delve into an intriguing story. The 2024 New Artiste of the Year winner King Paluta has been in the industry for two decades. He faced numerous challenges in his quest for recognition until his breakthrough came recently.

He mentioned in a specialised TGMA documentary attached to this report that it was in 2004 that he embarked on his professional journey as a writer and performer, drawing inspiration from Kwaw Kese.

He also added that his determination was further fueled when Asem burst into the mainstream with his hit song, Give Me Blow.

Interestingly, Paluta had been in the industry even before the emergence of renowned Tema-based rappers such as Sarkodie, Stay Jay, and Yaa Pono. However, he struggled to gain the limelight until recently.

Today, King Paluta stands as one of the most influential figures of his generation, with his songs dominating the charts nationwide.

His track, Aseda has become an anthem and undeniably the biggest song of the moment.

King Paluta’s journey teaches us a valuable lesson – that with unwavering determination and resilience, one can always reach their desired destination.
