Nearly a month after the shocking news of his son Kambilichukwu’s death broke, Nigerian actor Yul Edochie has finally spoken publicly about it.

In an Instagram post, Yul Edochie told his followers about the last conversation he had with his 16-year-old son before he died.

The young boy was eager to fill him in on his school activities, and he himself was looking forward to the upcoming inter-house sports, which were to take place two days later, as he described them. Unfortunately, Kambilichukwu died later that day. Yul Edochie said that since he died, his family has missed him every day.

“On that Wednesday morning, you came into my room, dressed up for school. You told me your school will be having inter-house sports on Friday and I promised you I’ll be there. You were so excited. You told me you won a gold medal in swimming.”

“I congratulated you. We joked about your height, then you left for school in your ever-cheerful manner. And you never came back home again. I can’t question God. My dear son, just 16 years with us here on earth, but you made your mark. Great Son. Calm, cute, brilliant, always cheerful, outstanding footballer, gentle and loving soul. You’re an angel. We miss you. We love you, Kambi. Daddy loves you. But God loves you more. Rest well, Son. Till we meet again. Rest in Heaven with God. My dear son, Kambi Yul-Edochie. Kambi yoooooo!” He wrote, accompanied with a love emoji.

The deceased auntie (May Edochie’s sister), who was present, reported that the child had read all night in preparation for his exam today. He joined his friends to play football after his school test; while doing so, he started having seizures and was taken to Mother and Child Hospital.

The report also stated that all attempts by the medics to revive him failed. This is coming two months after Yul Edochie and his first wife May, celebrated their first son and second child as he turned 16; showering encomiums and blessings on him.

Yul, the last child of veteran actor, Pete Edochie, married his wife, Mary, at 22 after they both dated for six years. He followed in his father’s footsteps and debuted in the movie industry a year after his marriage.
