Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has responded to the defacement of a statue and plaque at Asomdwee Park, the resting place of the late President John Evans Atta Mills, with a plea for privacy.
Writing on X, formerly Twitter, Anyidoho stated, “I’m a very content and quiet citizen so media houses should allow me to enjoy my peace. I have no comments to make so please leave me alone to enjoy my peace 🙏.”
The incident, which saw the statue of the late president damaged and the accompanying plaque removed, has reignited tensions surrounding the management of the park.

The plaque had previously credited Anyidoho with assisting in the unveiling of the statue, bearing the inscription, “Assisted by Samuel Koku Anyidoho.”
Its removal has added fuel to ongoing disputes about Professor Atta Mills’ legacy and those associated with preserving his memory.
Cadman Mills, the brother of the late president, issued a fiery response to the development. Addressing Anyidoho directly, he remarked, “Your name has been erased from Asomdwee Park. You are now a nonentity. Contact NAPO. Maybe you can be his chauffeur if you are willing to dress better. NUT CASE! YOU WILL ACCOUNT!”
