Whitney Boakye-Mensah has criticized Sista Afia for releasing a diss track against Efia Odo amidst their ongoing feud.
During her appearance on UTV’s United Showbiz, the entertainment pundit expressed her disapproval of the slut-shaming content in the song directed at Efia Odo, labelling it as outdated and distasteful.
Whitney highlighted the historical context of women being targeted by men using similar derogatory tactics, emphasizing her concern over a woman resorting to the same behaviour against another woman.
She firmly stated that the use of slut-shaming as a weapon has been a common practice by men against women, and it should not be endorsed or perpetuated by women themselves.
In her view, Sista Afia’s diss track, which heavily relies on slut-shaming Efia Odo, is not only immature but also regressive in terms of how conflicts are handled.
She explained, “To get women go into the gutters about beautiful face, their sex organs and all that… haven’t men done that enough already to us women?
“Why should the first point of call for a woman to another woman in a beef song be to slut shame her? The moment you go on that tangent you’ve lost.”
Whitney Boakye-Mensah believes that Sista Afia missed an opportunity to showcase her accomplishments in the music industry and other areas in her song.
She said, “What I was expecting from Sista Afia, such an intelligent and beautiful girl was to actually do a diss song listing her achievements toe-to-toe and dare Efia Odo to do same.
“This style of beef where you expose who your opponent has had sexual relations with is so old, it’s so childish and it’s so cheap.
“Even more important is how this type of song fuels already established perceptions that women in the music and entertainment industry sleep their way to the top.”
