Media personality Toke Makinwa has weighed in on the ongoing drama surrounding Nigerian musician 2Face Idibia’s announcement of his divorce from actress Annie Idibia.
Makinwa, known for her bold opinions on matters of relationships and personal growth, expressed her disapproval of the public way in which 2Face aired their marital issues.
In her statement, Toke pointed out that while it is perfectly fine for individuals to leave relationships that no longer serve them, there was no need to make such a sensitive matter public at this particular moment.

“Nobody is asking anybody to stay in a situation that’s not serving them any purpose anymore. By all means, leave if you must, but why to bring this online this very moment?” she questioned, suggesting that some situations are better handled privately.
Toke also made a point about the importance of empathy, especially when dealing with situations that involve public figures.
“We know what’s going on behind closed doors, the world doesn’t know anything. It’s already been hectic with opinions flying around,” she said, acknowledging the intense public scrutiny that comes with being in the limelight.
She emphasized that only a select few truly understand the dynamics of what goes on in any relationship, and only time would reveal the truth behind the headlines.
She urged 2Face to be more mindful of the narrative he was contributing to, especially when his actions contradicted the values he often espoused.
“Timing is everything, empathy is everything. You constantly preach love. You cannot add to the narrative that’s out there when you know what is happening exactly behind closed doors,” she explained, making it clear that actions speak louder than words.
