Joe Frazier has disclosed the significant influence that former music executive cum politician Mark Okraku Mantey has had on his musical journey.
The veteran Hiplife artist remarked that when Mark Okraku Mantey chooses to work with an artist under his Slip Music record label, it indicates that he recognizes something exceptional in that artist.
During an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A—Z, Joe Frazier, also known as Big Joe Frazier, stated that Mark’s remarkable managerial skills motivated him to put in greater effort and helped him realize his full potential.
“You can imagine working with Okraku-Mantey. You’ll definitely do well. He is about 50 people listening to your music. Before Okraku would agree to work with you, it means he has seen something extraordinary in you.
When I worked with his Slip Music, he had about 40 musicians: Daasebre Gyamena, Nana Kwame, Lord Kenya, Akyeame, Felix Bell, Adane Best, and a whole lot of musicians.
“So you can imagine someone like that no one knew at the time joining all these great musicians. It wasn’t easy but I felt proud working with them,” he said.
Big Joe emphasized that Okraku-Mantey’s extensive experience and background in the music industry attracted many musicians to him.
“Working with Okraku Mantey was a plus. I mean for Okraku to accept you, and record you, you feel flattered.”
He noted that Okraku also advised him on how to go about his compositions.
