It comes as no surprise that singer Nicholas Omane Acheampong, a staunch supporter of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has offered a tepid defence of NAOP’s controversial remarks regarding Mahama’s well-known 24-hour economy initiative, in which he invoked a divine perspective.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, commonly referred to as NAPO, garnered significant attention when he asserted at an NPP campaign rally that the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) 24-hour economy policy is unfeasible.
He argued that no nation in the world operates under a 24-hour work schedule. The NPP’s vice-presidential candidate emphasized the necessity for rest after work, citing that even God, the creator of the universe, takes time to rest.
This statement sparked backlash within the Christian community, as many criticized him for what they deemed sacrilegious remarks.
In response, gospel artist Nicholas Omane Acheampong has come to his defence, stating that Jesus, who is synonymous with God, also slept during a fishing expedition with his disciples, thereby supporting NAPO’s claim.
He stated on Wontumi TV thus; “If NAPO says God slept, you can go and ask your pastors. They will tell you Jesus Christ was God.
“True or False? Many believers accept that Jesus is the same as God. He (Jesus) said to the disciples, if you see me, you have seen the Father.
“Jesus is the Father who turned into man. When Jesus was on the sea, did He not sleep?”
